There is more to be gained from yoga for relaxation; apart from stress reduction, there is increased fitness and strength, weight loss and improved health.
There are many different styles of yoga but when doing yoga for relaxation, it is best to practice the style that is slow paced and less strenuous in the types of poses and stretches done, especially if you are a beginner or have medical issues.
It’s very important that you consult with your medical practitioner before starting yoga for relaxation so you can be aware of the associated risks to you and ensure your safety.
Whenever I practice yoga, I prefer to do simple relaxing poses that help to stretch away the tension and stress that tends to ball up in me after a tough long day.
Yoga for relaxation can be done in the comfort of your own home. There are quite a few Yoga DVDs and tapes available for sale. Just be sure that the one you select puts emphasis on relaxation, for beginners or gentle stretches.
Make some space in your living room or another room where you won’t be distracted. Put on comfortable clothing, grab your yoga mat, have a bottle of water and a towel handy and get started.
